Life of a Prairie Painter
It’s been an honour over the last years to participate in group and solo exhibitions, internationally circulated publications, artist talks, artist residencies, and licensing artwork with brands.
If you would have asked a ten-year-old Désirée, she never would have believe how many amazing opportunities were just around the corner for her art!
I’m full of hope, for a world that continues to embrace the many ways art speaks directly to our souls.

Artist Residencies
Barneed Artist Residency
I attended a self-funded painting residency at Barneed Studios September 2021 in Newfoundland.
This was the first time that I experimented with plein air painting and acrylics. I travelled around the province, painting in all sorts of weather conditions, from pouring rain to brilliant sunshine. The lighthouses and puffin-watching adventures were my favourite.
The Ou Artist Residency
I attended a self-funded painting residency at The Ou Gallery March 2020 in British Columbia.
This was the first time I painted orcas, which would become a fascination for the next three years. I loved experimenting with the movements, shades, and textures of the ocean with watercolours.
