Catching Community at Bay de Verde | Original Acrylic Painting
This painting was created en plein air or on location at Bay de Verde.
Bay de Verde was a half day’s drive from the artist residency, though it was well worth the travel time. This particular place in Newfoundland is unique due to the pink granite cliffs. Here, instead of being surrounded by shades of grey, the cliffs gave off stunning red hues. This created the most mesmerizing backdrop for the small fishing boat that was encircled by a wave of seagulls vying for fish. The boat had plenty of company that day.
This acrylic painting was created on handcrafted paper, using saltwater from the Atlantic Ocean to mix the colours. The painting measures approximately 5x7 inches and features deckled edges.
